The LD1 - Mk2 is a single channel L-Band satellite demodualtor designed and built by Veripos. It is manufactured to a high standard in order to provide a robust and flexible unit to ensure reliable reception of the Veripos data broadcast services with all types of installation. Data from the demodulator can be fed in to any suitable GPS receiver or external software that has the capability to make use of the corrections from the LD1.
Data is output to the user's hardware or software via four individually buffered serial ports; two primary and two secondary. The primary ports deliver correction data from all stations availaable on the satellite downlink, whilst the secondary ports can be configured to deliver any required sub-set of stations.
Features of the LD1 satellite demodulator include several user-selectable pages provide real time displays relating to reference station availability, performance of L-band reception and configuration of the unit.
A simple and intuitive user-interface provides the user with the ability to set up the unit for optimal reception performance, view the Access Menu to enable and disable the outputs, configure the unit for reference station selection, configure the serial interfaces to other user equipment and switch the LNA power feed ON and OFF. All set-up and configuration selections are retained over power cycles (nonvolatile).
The incorporated L-Band receiver provides a flexible and sensitive front-end for reception of the L-band transmissions of the Veripos data broadcast services. The demodulator is designed to work with frequencies between 1525MHz and 1545MHz and levels between –80dBm and –120dBm.
The LD1 - Mk2 can be used with the Veripos high-power and low-power satellite transmissions. To receive Veripos high-power satellite transmissions, the LD1-Mk2 utilises a compact high-gain omni-direction antenna, whilst for low-power operation a suitable stabilised dish antenna, such as that used on Inmarsat B and M terminals must be used. Interfacing to this type of antenna is normally straightforward, for which Veripos can supply a special interfacing kit that ensures full compatibility and also protection of the antennas ancillary components.
