Veripos GLONASS Rollover

Summary:

GLONASS satellite system day number counter reset will occur on the 31st of December 2023 at 21:00 UTC.

GLONASS satellite system day count starts from 1 then increases every day at 21:00 UTC and goes up to 1461, within a four-year plan. After number 1461 the counter resets to 1.

Details:

The GLONASS day number rollover will occur at 21:00 UTC on the 31st of December 2023. The GLONASS day number in the broadcast ephemeris will reset from 1461 to 1 for the start of a new 4-year period.

A review of VERIPOS systems has been conducted with acceptable positional performance being observed on all systems with the following systems being of note.

LD6 Septentrio based units, will revert to GPS only between 21:00 and 00:00 UTC on the 31st of December 2023 at which point GLONASS satellites will be reintroduced into the calculation automatically.

Verify-QC users will note that their systems will revert to GPS only at 21:00 UTC on the 31st of December 2023. A restart of the Verify-QC software after 00:00 UTC will reintroduce the use of GLONASS corrections to the calculation.

VERIPOS will be actively monitoring all systems during the rollover event providing customers with updates as and when necessary.

If any issues with the GLONASS constellation are observed, VERIPOS will suspend the broadcast of GLONASS augmentation data and/or adjust users service levels until such time that we are confident in the health of the constellation, at this point we will re-introduce GLONASS based services to the broadcast.

GPS only systems are unaffected by this event.

Users should take the above notification into account when working on critical operations and should remain vigilant at this time. Should users have any queries regarding this event they should contact their respective Veripos project managers.
